A securities fraud class action lawsuit has been filed against The Chemours Company (“Chemours” or the “Company”) (NYSE: CC) on behalf of shareholders who purchased or otherwise acquired the Company’s common stock between February 20, 2026 and August 4, 2026, inclusive (the “Class Period”). Chemours is a global chemistry company whose products include Opteon-brand refrigerants sold into automotive and other aftermarket channels.
The complaint alleges that, throughout the Class Period, defendants made materially false and misleading statements and/or failed to disclose that Chemours had oversold Opteon products into the aftermarket channel in the prior fiscal year, that aftermarket demand for those products was consequently declining, and that, as a result, the Company’s financial guidance and public statements about its business, operations, and prospects lacked a reasonable basis.
On August 4, 2026, Chemours reported second-quarter 2026 results, disclosing that net sales in its Thermal & Specialized Solutions segment had declined due to weaker Opteon aftermarket sales compared to elevated year-earlier demand, and that it expected continued aftermarket weakness in the third quarter because of elevated market inventory remaining from an initial channel fill in mid-2025. On this news, Chemours shares fell $3.34 per share, or approximately 18.6%, to close at $14.59 per share on August 5, 2026.
